Ryan Dube They are accurate based on a large number of sources, many of which were not even cited for this article. The majority of the discomfort seems to come from the fact that many Mormons here feel the portrayal of those beliefs is inaccurate — which may be a valid argument. Discussing with our editor now. Thanks for the feedback. Ryan Dube Not really — if you took the time to look into my own past writing, you would see that I explore a long list of belief systems — people that belief in aliens, abductions, UFOs, reptiles, angels, ghosts, and in this case — the application of baptism-after-death, among other things. As you can imagine, we tend to offend people that believe in aliens, UFOs, abductions, etc…. As bytebear accurately pointed out — there may have been some things that could have been learned from getting a quote or two from folks within the Mormon church. We can obtain more if necessary — an entire follow-up article with more evidence if required.
8 Things To Expect When Dating A Muslim Girl
Our critics allege that science has proven the Book of Mormon to be false. What does the science of human genetics really say about the Book of Mormon? The answer involves understanding what the Book of Mormon actually is and says. On this Mormon Answers page, I explore some common questions about DNA and the Book of Mormon, and argue that the critics aren’t attacking anything the Book of Mormon requires, but common assumptions about and even misreadings of the text.
The findings of modern science, though often tentative, can be welcomed by those who treasure the Book of Mormon as ancient scripture. This work is my responsibility and does not necessarily reflect official views of the Church.
Chapter 1. ORIGIN AND HISTORY OF MORMONISM. THE STORY AS TOLD BY MORMONS. Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism recorded his own story this way.
In an attempt to explain away this thorny fact, FairMormon suggests that God Himself may have revealed the errors to Joseph. This bizarre explanation, which would surely be unpalatable to the average Chapel Mormon, is contradicted by common sense as well as by the notion that the Book of Mormon is the most correct book on earth. FairMormon attempts to rationalize this fact by claiming that not all Native American Indians descended from Lehi.
And FairMormon cannot simply argue that Joseph Smith misunderstood the connection. Joseph Smith claimed to have been taught about the origins of Native Americans by the angel Moroni — an ancient American inhabitant himself. FairMormon likewise confirms or otherwise ignores key anachronisms in the Book of Mormon, such as the existence of steel, wheat, horses, and many more items. Given the current state of archaeological understanding, experts would absolutely expect to find these items, had they actually existed.
Indeed, no respectable non-Mormon institution including the National Geographic and Smithsonian institutions or scholar that has considered the historicity of the Book of Mormon deems it a historical record. Although FairMormon contends that certain items previously thought to have been anachronisms have since been found, FairMormon has not provided credible evidence and sources to support its extraordinary and amazing claims.
FairMormon tries to obfuscate the issue by noting that some place names were also included in the Bible and that other place names were not included in the Book of Mormon at all. The point is that there are a striking number of names in the Book of Mormon, that appear to match the names of places surrounding Palmyra during the time at which the Book of Mormon was produced.
Finally, FairMormon fails to refute the claim that the original version of the Book of Mormon and even the current version, to a lesser extent teaches the doctrine of Trinitarianism. FairMormon implicitly concedes that Joseph Smith and the early saints were Trinitarian.

Applying this methodology to a careful reading of details within the Book of Mormon shows an experience in battle that is just as horrific as it is authentic. Millions of people have had their lives changed by talking with the missionaries. All over the world, Mormon missionaries share a message of happiness about God’s plan .
He instituted a very strict rule that no blacks were to be ordained or given temple ordinances. Elijah Abel outlived Brigham Young and the validity of his ordination was repeatedly discussed by the brethren see All Abraham’s Children , p. The rationalization for restricting blacks developed over a period of years. Scholar Armand Mauss observed: Also, during the generation after Brigham Young, three other important internal developments occurred that seemed to point to a divinely condoned racial restriction.
The first development was the formal canonization of the Pearl of Great Price,. The second development, partly related to the first, was a fuller unfolding of the doctrine relating to premortal existence,.

Advertisement Nothing says “pick-me-up” like another loveless, shattered family. So, after a tough few months, my sister and her husband came to me and said I should marry her husband and be part of their family. They call us sister-wives, which is supposed to symbolize how tight the relationship between plural wives should be. In reality, men use the term as an excuse, figuring, “Hell, the word ‘sister’ is right there — why not just fuck the whole family?
It lasted a week before I realized there was no way I could stay. It turned out the church leadership had again gone behind my back to encourage my brother-in-law and sister to make that offer. They were determined to keep me in the church young, desirable women are their most precious commodity, after all and felt they were under pressure to “reward” my brother-in-law’s service and dedication.

Trusting God When You Don’t Understand – Top 4 Things to Remember
I was a convert after high school after much vehement opposition from my parents. My high school boyfriend was LDS and I got totally sucked in. I believed it with everything.
I am not suggesting that the real author of the Book of Mormon actually used these modern place names, or that he was even consciously aware of them. I list them primarily to show that any similarities between Book of Mormon names and Egyptian or Hebrew names unknown to Joseph Smith which may be cited as “evidence of the Book of Mormon” are rather meaningless.
To anyone who thinks that mormonism is a Christian, you could not be more wrong. The mormon cult teaches a completely different Jesus Christ and a Completely different God to that of the Christian religion. Those are just 2 of many many reasons why mormonism is a cult. And for anyone who has an honest desire to understand the definition of a cult…. At that point, you begin to realize that a true working definition for a religion versus a working definition for a cult is not that straightforward.
However, the differences between the 2 become very clear when you understand the hallmarks of a cult and those hallmarks are what clearly define a cult. Religions create their doctrines as a result of scriptural research and interpretation. That is not the case with cults. This is a consistent tactic with all cults and that is how many cults have come into being claiming to be denominations of existing religions.

It was now October, and the time was past for my frequent walks there. Nevertheless, instead of going to the office, I turned and bent my course toward the woods, feeling that I must be alone, and away from all human eyes and ears, so that I could pour out my prayer to God. But still my pride must show itself. As I went over the hill, it occurred to me that someone might see me and suppose that I was going away to pray. Yet probably there was not a person on earth that would have suspected such a thing, had he seen me going.
Because so many people ask us about the “Mormon Rules” I’ve put together a list of the many things that are required of Mormons in order to be a faithful member in “good standing”.

DNA Evidence: The Strongest Evidence Yet Against the Book of Mormon? In the past few years, DNA studies have been used to provide what may be the strongest and most convincing evidence so far against the authenticity of the Book of Mormon. But being the “strongest evidence so far” against the Book of Mormon is a relative thing, akin to selecting the best smelling skunk in your local forest.
Links Member Beliefs A testimony is a reliable method to learn the truth. Men can deceive, science can be wrong but a true testimony is an undeniable way to establish the truth of the gospel. A testimony of the Book of Mormon can be gained by reading the Book of Mormon and putting the book to the test by praying about whether or not it is true: A true testimony comes from the Holy Ghost and cannot be denied.
Although the Book of Mormon does not say how exactly the Holy Ghost will manifest the truth to people, many LDS believe it is either a physical sensation such as the burning in the bosom or just an intense feeling that it is true. He also told David Nye White, senior editor of the Pennsylvania’s Pittsburg Weekly Gazette, on August 28 that speaking to Joseph Smith about revelations, “he stated that when he was in a ‘quandary,’ he asked the Lord for a revelation, and when he could not get it, he ‘followed the dictates of his own judgment, which were as good as a revelation to him; but he never gave anything to his people as revelation, unless it was a revelation, and the Lord did reveal himself to him.
